Deeply, I know what it feels to be misunderstood; how to wake up in a world every day where nobody gets you. It makes you feel like you are the problem always and no matter how much you try not to care about people’s perception towards you, you are still concerned and bothered because inwards, you are uncomfortable. It’s what makes you human.
You battle demons and pressure every moment but the people around you deem it as ‘pride’, simply because they tend to have their lives figured out. We were a set of special beings right from birth, us; bright, intelligent, smart kids now grown up to be caught in a haunting fork on the road, trying to fit in just not to be labeled as ‘awkward’ or weird by anyone. We’ve put out that unique flame about ourselves and are now just ordinary like everyone else, in the rat race, the total endpoint being money.
You know you’re not where you want to be, you’ve loved and lost people, some you want to get back but are scared to because you fear they might not want you back. Your intentions are pure, you are good but always misunderstood; you know why? Because you are too good for these people.
Sometimes there might not always be a happy ending, you just might find your happiness in whatever situation you find yourself. You might be scared to speak up, speak first, scared to fix that broken bond that deep down, you want back really bad but just gaslight yourself into thinking you don’t just because you feel the latter party doesn’t feel the same way. It’s okay. It’s okay to let everything go.
Let people think what they want, as long as you know you are, within yourself a good person. Let the bonds die; that friendship, relationship, or whatever entanglement it is. No one who doesn’t understand you deserves you even after you’ve explained yourself and interpreted yourself to be understood.
It’s okay to be alone.
I know we’re a lot of those kids out there…
Gifted children, growing up in this world trying to fit in, losing their way, and thinking of themselves as burnt-out disappointments.
These feelings, these perceptions about yourself; it’s what makes you human.
You’ve always made it through the stormy days, you could always make it through another.
If you’ve sought happiness and haven’t attained it yet, leave it…
…let it find you.
