PURPOSE SERIES (Pt. 1) By Pastor Emmanuel Nzekwe

Nothing is more secure and enduring than simply knowing that God has called us and has a specific purpose for us to fulfill. We have been summoned and invited by the King to accomplish kingdom assignments.

What is a CALLING?

A calling is an invitation, a setting apart and a summon. God called us before we were born and before we became conscious of life He has prepared a specific purpose for us to fulfill here on earth.

“For those God foreknew, He also predestined…And those He predestined, He also called…”
Romans 8:29-30 NIV

PURPOSE is then the reason for the calling. It is the reason why we have been created, invited and summoned by our God. It is the ministry of our calling.

Therefore a calling and purpose simply means that God has set us apart from our mother’s womb for a specific assignment. He has summoned us to do a specific task. He has invited us to serve and take on a responsibility that only us can do.
We have been CALLED for a PURPOSE

Who then is CALLED?

God has called everyone on earth. He has called everybody: every race, tribe, language and nation. Every man or woman is called by God for a purpose.

It is not only the Pastors or Apostles that are called,
It is not only the rich that are called,
It is not only the intelligent that are called,
It is not only the strong that are called and it is not only the high born that are called.

God has CALLED EVERYBODY!
I am called and you are called. We have all been called for a purpose. Every one of us has been assigned by God to do a particular work here on earth before we die.

Why does God CALL people?

The FIRST and most important reason why God calls people is to be with Him so that they can be conformed to the image of Christ. We are called to SOMEONE first before we are called to SOMETHING or SOMEWHERE.

“Jesus went up on a mountain side and called to him those He wanted and they came to Him. He appointed twelve designating them Apostles that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach…”
Mark 3:13-15

We have to be with Him first before we are sent out on an assignment. It is when we get close to Him that we can fully understand His purpose for our lives. Intimacy with God gives clarity of vision because we are then separated from the crowd, from our ambitions and desires. Remember, CLARITY OF PURPOSE comes as a result of INTIMACY WITH GOD.
